The early morning fog still clung to the grass even as the sun began to peak up over the horizon creating a brilliant display of icicle looking dew drops across the blood splattered forest. This is Tyrol, and this ferocious battle has been raging on for three days. Out of respect for one another, the two armies had agreed not to fight at night and settle all of their bloody disputes in the daylight. Kheldar had seen many men fall in the last few days, just as he had ever since Cade had order him to come along to assist in the Ellysian expansion. Fighting had always been apart of his life, and daily routine but with all of the Ellysian business at hand he had not seen a moments rest in over 16 months. This particular morning the aches and pains from previous battles, as well as this one, were having quite the effect on Kheldar's mood, and he was feeling ever so ornery. He gazed out at the morning cooking fires of the Calsedonian Knights and noticed Cade enjoying his morning bowl of pipe weed and preparing some rather tasty looking breakfast. Kheldar then very moodily removed his quickly dwindling supply of Dreamach that he had found a few months earlier and decided to join Cade. As he stiffly walked over to where Cade sat, he perceived by the look on Cade's face that victory drew near. " Indulging again aye? Our fearless leader..". Cade looked up and starred at him for a moment and then they both burst out in laughter. " We have received word from Eldon. Apparently the regiment you took out yesterday contained most of the knights that we needed to kill before we could try to take the general." Cade said taking a long drag from his pipe, and then offering it to Kheldar. Kheldar took a few puffs and then replied," That's good to know. One 'o' those suns 'a' bitchs got a good hit on Remus's left leg. He'll be fine but at least it was worth something." " Yeah, Seth had a close call when about six of um' had him cornered but, you know Seth." Cade said with a chuckle as he turned the now popping and splattering bacon over in his pan. They sat for a moment in silence then, and Kheldar went into a deep recap of the last few days events.

The time for sitting around was over. While Kheldar and Cade sat eating their breakfast and conversing about past victories, the opposing forces had been doing some preparations for a final charge. Between the Elysian Monks and the battle hardened Malsek someone should have thought about the fact that the rebel heathens might have realized that with the sudden deaths of some of their senior officers, they were hovering on the bitter edge of total annihilation. Upon this realization, it would be safe to assume that a group of such faithless freedom-fanatics would be inclined to work themselves into a frantic craze and thus begin to believe that their only chance for victory lies in the small chance that they could supprise their foes in a sneak attack early in the morning. And this was exactly what they planned to do. Unfortunatly for the Elysians and her allies, the thought had never touched their minds, and they were completely clueless to the horror which even now marched up the ravine to their flank. By now almost everyone had risen from their tattered old beds and Kheldar looked about with an amused expression on his face. " Wat's yur' problem?" Cade asked with little laugh. Kheldar coughed uncomftorably and then replied," I've never paid much attention to the way everyone gets up in the morning. Nothin' extraordinary I guess, it just feels like they are doin' sumthin' wrong, and rather timely." Cade starred at him for a moment and then said, " Ya know, you shouldn't think so much, yo--" He was cut off in mid-scentence by the ever so familiar sound of a hoard of arrows being reliesed and coming right at them. They still couldn't see the archers but there arrows were hard to miss considering the fact that they covered nearly half of the now cloud-stricken sky. " TAKE COVER!!" Cade and many others called as they began to notice the source of that awefull noise, but for most of them, it was too late. Many of the Monks had been involved in morning prayer and were a league or so away from the camp when the assault began, so when they finally realized what was going on, escape was impossible. All of the men among the camp formed together and grabbed what ever semi-stable objects that they could find around them to form a massive sheild to cover as many of them as possible. Many men frantically ran and struggled to get under the "sheild" only to be penetrated by numerous arrows before falling to their death, some only a couple of steps from the protectant covering. The arrows continued to fall like a heavy rain for what seemed like an eternity, while the now wild eyed and panic strikin Monks and Malsek alike struggled to keep as close together as possible. As experienced as these warriors were, they were still caught of gaurd, and were ill prepared to defend such a ferocios barrage. Thus an occassional arrow would worm it's way through the make shift sheild to claim another of our brothers. Over half of the men that stood with Kheldar not thirty seconds ago now lay in pittiful heaps of dead weight all around him.
